Mister Z's (Mr "Z") opened about December 1975, the third LGBT bar to be housed in this location in less than 18 months. (The location has first held a bar called The Gallery Lounge from late-1974 to early 1975, and then a disco dance bar, Gary's Dance Club, from mid-late 1975.)

The single advertisement we have seen in the "GPU News" magazine (December 1975) showed an incorrect address: the ad lists the location as "219 N. 2nd St." rather than 219 SOUTH 2nd Street- which doubtless caused a number of people to go on a futile search for the new bar!

The bar was short-lived. By early-1976 this location would re-open as Club Circus, which morphed into Circus-Circus, and eventually became Club 219; a succession of popular and successful disco and dance clubs.

More information about this business is welcomed from anyone who can contribute it.
