Our Place bar in Racine was opened on April 1, 1988 (per In Step v5,i03 pg 56) by partners Paul and Darren. Their first advertisement (In Step v5, i04 pg 33) had a quasi-logo at top "Our Out-of-the-closet Place" and promoted a DJ, Light show, and large dance floor.

Another ad in September 1988 said "Look for the Flaming Torch" so there was apparently a flaming torch sign to help locate the bar. The ad promoted a recent fundraiser for the South East Wisconsin AIDS Project (SEWAP) and the upcoming Mr. & Miss South Eastern WIsconsin Pageant.

Early in October 1998 the partners split up, and Darren reopened the bar a month later as the single owner.

Darren also announced plans to open another bar, "Miss P's", down the street, but we have no other information as to whether that happened.

In Step volume 6 issue 6 (March-April 1989) announced that "Our Place never made it to their first anniversary. They had plans for a show on the 25th, to celebrate, but never made it that long.", adding "It's a tough business.".

More information about this business is welcomed from anyone who can contribute it.
